About US
What started out as a small venture 8 years ago, renting his childhood family vacation home in Lewes, DE, has now blossomed into a full-time vacation rental business. Attributing to the growing success of Sunset Rentals is the hands-on approach that is given to each and every client and property that this team works with and manages.
Carl and Gretchen are both native to Delaware and have spent their childhood years, young adult years, and now ’empty nester’ years enjoying the Delaware beaches; from surf fishing and biking on the numerous trails overlooking the beach and bay in Lewes, to Rehoboth beach shopping, boardwalk excursions, dining at amazing restaurants to Dewey beach bar crawls and riding on the Jolley Trolley. They have enjoyed many lazy beach days at Cape Henlopen State Park with family, friends and dogs.
Carl is a graduate of West Virginia University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture as well as an MBA in Finance from Iona College. He has 15 years’ experience in the commercial construction industry as a project manager and general contractor. Now a licensed real estate agent in Delaware and Pennsylvania Carl’s passion is specializing in assisting his clients with buying, selling and managing their investment properties.
Gretchen’s bond to the Delaware beaches developed during her many summers working at Grotto Pizza in Rehoboth beach and Dewey beach. As a graduate of West Chester University Gretchen has worked in the corporate world for a local power company and for the past 16 years she has worked for a large financial institution specializing in risk management.
Giving back is a hallmark of their business and personal lives. Carl volunteers his time as an HOA board member within his Lewes beach community. Over the years he has provided free Summer movie events for the Village of Five Points and Broadkill Beach communities. Carl and Gretchen’s biggest passion is their love of animals and supporting the Brandywine Valley SPCA. Not only do they volunteer their time helping out with the dogs, but they also partner and run charity events to help support funding, donation collections and searching out forever homes for the animals. They are not only corporate sponsors for the SPCA, but they also help with fostering and have adopted several dogs as well. A passion for them is helping with the older dogs to get them out of the shelter so that they can have the best golden years and be surrounded by a loving family.
